Meathead

Can I tell you how amazing it felt to start AND finish a project in a couple of hours? When is the last time THAT happened? I actually made a smaller one in an hour, thinking it would fit Satya. I must've forgotten that she has a huge head because it popped right off when I put it on! Fortunately, I know a little newborn girl who's head isn't huge, so I will send it off to her.
Anyway, this is the Meathead Hat from Knitalong. I used Manos del Uruguay 100% wool in Wildflower and Blue Sky Alpacas Alpaca Silk in a light fushia. I used US 10.5s, but then used US 9 dpns near the top because that was the largest dpn I had!
Satya will wear the hat for Daddy, but when Mommy wants her to wear it, and especially when she wants her to model it, this is what happens:

For some reason this picture is reminding me of this King Crimson album cover. Scary.

So I've been in hyper mode for the past week with design ideas, carrying around my Harmony Guides and Barbara Walker Treasuries like a zombie. At one point I think I was planning on a Cowl Collection of 6 (huh?). So last night, I decided to cool it and just knit some things for the rest of the month and see how my ideas pan out without adding any others!
Although I do like the idea of a Cowl of the Month......hmmm......
To hold you over while I knit on this, this and hopefully start some of these for Satya, here are some pictures of Satya enjoying Fall.

Note to Self

Things I Need to Learn to Do:

1. How to do a provisional cast-on ( I know, totally pathetic that I don't know how, that I've never had to do one, or have ignored having to do one and done something else)

2. How to cable without a cable needle.

3. How to crochet. (Aren't you proud of me, Marly?)

4. How to knit two socks on two circulars.

5. How to do knitty math.

These all need to be learned like, yesterday. Oh well, at least the list isn't too long, huh?

Don't mind the look of the blog right now, I'm trying to spiff it up a bit. Who knows how long it'll take.

Just popping in......

I'm not really back, just making a drive-by post. I've received these books in the past week or so and am in love with all of them. I sure have a lot of reading to do! The ones I'm totally peeing my pants with excitement about are Leigh Radford's new AlterKnits Felt and Knitting New Scarves by Lynne Barr. So creative and innovative. I am excited that Leigh will be at the Highlands Ranch Tattered Cover (along with Wendy Bernard!!) in a couple of weeks. I plan to be there.
Another thing that has me peeing in my pants with excitement is something that I can't tell you about. No, believe me, I am NOT pregnant. My brainstorming idea just about knocked me over this weekend and I have been ultra-caffeinated since.  It is knitting related though, so I think you'll all be very excited about it too. I hope we can share the news at the beginning of the new year. We? Yeah, put me and Pixie together and you get a good thing.
