Let's Try Again.......

So it looks like either my prices aren't good or my yarns aren't enticing. I really would LOVE to get this all out of my house. So, NAME YOUR PRICE. I had better success with that! Let's see if we can get this yarn outta here!!

Hope you're all having a great weekend so far......

STASH SALE IS NOW LIVE!!!

It's a little early, but I've put info and prices on all yarns. Please check my Photo Album: Destash 2008 on my sidebar!
If you are interested in anything, email me. Everything will go on a first come, first serve basis. I charge $5 for shipping, unless it's a large quantity. We can discuss it. I only accept Paypal (whether it's a credit card or from a pp account)

Tell your friends, tell your enemies! I want it all out of my house. I may even post more later. We'll see how much of the cleaning bug gets to me!

C'mon Guys! Name your price!!

ETA: If it's not clear, my Destash Sale items can be found on my side bar in my photo album, Destash 2008. Sorry for the confusion!!

I plan to make my Stash Sale live by tomorrow afternoon, 4pm MST. Since I still have to look up all the ballband info and price everything, which I am really not looking forward to spending time on, I am making this offer: If between now and tomorrow 12pm MST (Friday the 18th) you are interested in any of my yarns and can make me a good deal, you can have it at your price as thanks for making my job a little easier. I will add $5 for shipping for all packages. Email me if you are interested. Otherwise, the sale will go live at 4pm tomorrow!

Cool Swag

In the past few weeks I've been making random purchases here and there and thought I'd share some of them with you!

Img_1725
This package just arrived yesterday from The Loopy Ewe. Finally, a sock blocker! and I've been wanting one of their cute travel mugs. Ah, sheep paraphenalia! My recent sock swap sock is modeling the sock blocker.

I'm sure neither of these books need any introduction or explanation. I've been slowly reading through Amanda's in my spare time (ha! what's that??). I also just finished listening to her interview on CraftSanity. Seriously, I want her to be my best friend. Well, there are many people in blogland that I'd love to have as my best friend, but right now, it's Amanda! Stephanie would also be a very cool best friend. I know I'd be peeing my pants from laughing all the time. I haven't started reading her newest book yet, but plan to crack it open this weekend as I play become crippled Wagner's Flying Dutchman. I'll need to laugh.

Random drive-by Etsy purchases: (clockwise from top), 1. The Black Apple's newest postcard collection. I have some ideas up my sleeve for these. I'll be keeping those ideas up my sleeve for a while though. 2. Felted stitch markers from Jelby. These are adorable with little sheep on them! Love the colors too. 3. This isn't an etsy purchase, but thought I'd clump it in with the others. This is a cute little crochet hook keychain from Scout's Swag. I'm sure this will come in handy! 4. A little notions pouch from Splityarn with squirrels on it! How cute is that??

Img_1732
Another purchase from Scout: My newest Haiku Bag! It's from the Karma Neutral collection. This bag uses 50% jute, which is a sustainable fabric and no pesticides or fertilizers are used in making these bags. I like this bag a lot more than the first Haiku I bought (last year) for some reason, so once I find that one, it's around here somewhere...., I'll be putting it up for sale. There's nothing wrong with the bag at all and I've only used it once, so it's in great shape.

Last, but definitely not least, is my Favorite Color Swap package that I just received from Fioleta the other day! So many nice things: two skeins of Colinette Jitterbug (I think the multicolored skein will make great, wild Pomatomi!), an amigurumi frog, a sweet bedtime story for Satya, Rose and Peony tea that I can't wait to try, awesome stitch markers that she made (bigger picture below) and some sticky notes and some chocolates that somehow didn't make the picture...... Thanks so much Fioleta!!

So now that my conscience has kicked in seeing all these pictures of my recent purchases, I plan to make my Stash Sale live by tomorrow afternoon, 4pm MST. Since I still have to look up all the ballband info and price everything, which I am really not looking forward to spending time on, I am making this offer:If between now and tomorrow (Friday the 18th) you are interested in any of my yarns and can make me a good deal, you can have it at your price as thanks for making my job a little easier. I will add $5 for shipping for all packages. Anyway, email me if you are interested. Otherwise, the sale will go live at 4pm tomorrow!

Random Topic: Cherimoyas

Img_1718

Cherimoyas are Lovey's favorite fruit. He had a hankerin' for one a few weeks ago. They are native to Peru, but we ordered some from California. We cut one open on Sunday:

Img_1720

They have large black seeds, which kind of look like espresso beans. The texture is quite unique, it's like custard! The taste (when it's nice and ripe) is a cross between an apple, banana and strawberry.

Img_1721

Mark Twain called the cherimoya the "most delicious fruit known to men." I still haven't decided if I like them. It's definitely the weirdest fruit I've ever come across!

Sock Swap

This morning my knitting group got together to swap our single sock. It was so fun to see everyone's socks! This swap was tiny, only four of us: Nachaele, Judy, Marly and myself. Tiny, but fierce! As I was uploading my pictures before starting this post, I realized that I didn't get many pictures of all of us and our socks, so check out everyone else's blog for more pictures. I had the joy of knitting Nachaele a sock. She loves pink and green, so I chose from my stash (pat on the back!) my merino cashmere from The Knittery, in Orchid. Then I had to find a pattern. I had just learned (from Nachaele) the Turkish Cast-On for toe-up socks, so I wanted to give that a try. So what do I choose giving myself about 10 days, not much time, and already having a cloudy brain?

Img_1710

Yarnissima's Firestarter. Yeah. I have been drooling over this pattern since it came out last year and decided this would be the time to try it. Let me start by saying, it's a great pattern. I absolutely love the look of it. Unfortunately as I look at my pictures of the sock, I don't think the yarn showed the pattern off well enough, especially the cables. But hey, that's not going to keep me from knitting at least three more pair! I did have a hard time wrapping my brain around some aspects of the pattern. The language, reading the chart (eek!!), and cabling without a cable needle. Yes, I did not know how to do that before trying this pattern. And I decided that I didn't want to try it with this pattern, since there were other challenges, so I stupidly used a cable needle. For one stitch cables. Bad idea. I am promising myself right now that I will learn how to cable without a cable needle before knitting these socks again. I think that is why the one sock felt like it took forever. Anyway, I am very happy with the sock despite some flaws. Nachaele likes it too, and that was the whole point!! I will put up my specs and mods on my Ravelry page.

Img_1714

I was fortunate enough to have Judy as my knitter. As Marly exclaimed in one of her most recent posts , Judy is one badass sock knitter. So I am thrilled that I got to be the recipient of one of her socks! She chose the pattern Central Air in STR Peaseblossom from the 2006 Rockin' Sock Club. I love this sock and cannot wait until it's a pair to wear! I will have to be patient to knit the mate until some other knitting gets finished. Thank you Judy!

We will be doing the swap again,so Arvada Knitters, be ready to cast on a sock sometime this summer!

So, before I started writing this post, I was websurfing for some gifts and somehow I stumbled on Sundara's site. And somehow I signed up for her Seasons Yarn Club.I am still bummed that I had to pull out of the lottery for this round of Scout's Sock Club (low$$), so I guess this is how I'm making up for it. Next time, Scout, I swear!! So I look forward to receiving my first installment in June and seeing this yarn in person!

Since I haven't posted a Satya picture in a while, here is one with her studying up on yarn. Can you tell that Daddy dressed her?

Friday Favorites

Hi! Miss me? I've missed you. I don't even know when I posted last, but it's been a while. I was planning on including some recent acquisitions with pictures in this FF post, but I have a sleeping babe in my lap and it's not ideal picture-taking weather. So there for sure will be another post soon, maybe even two more this weekend since I am meeting with my knitting group for our Single Sock Swap tomorrow. I am excited, but a total wreck since I am not finished knitting it, am worried it's not going to fit, and that there won't be enough yarn for sock #2. So stay tuned to see what happens!
So before I list my Favorites for this week (that I've actually been collecting since my last FF post, so some might be like oh so last week), can I just tell you how awesome my baby is? She turned 7 months this past Wednesday, and yesterday she waved at me and said "hi". Today she started crawling. Of course, now we're screwed and we're so not babyproofed or anything, so we gotta get to it. Nothing like flying by the seat of your pants.....the only way I function these days!

Ok, on to this week's Friday Favorites:

1. Reason #901 why I must learn to sew.

2. The brilliant Anne Hanson has just released two new-as-of-today lovely scarf patterns. I am considering knitting a larger version of Alhambra rather than the Twinings Stole for my MIL.

3. Ok, Easter was done long ago, but I think these eggs are beautiful.

4. Such a sweet pillow.

5. Bella Dia's new website.

6. My newest obsession is listening to the CraftSanity podcast. So far I've listened to interviews with Leigh Radford, Alicia Paulson, Debbie Stoller, Anna Maria Horner and I am making my way through the interview with Emily Martin right now. I am finding these interviews so inspiring. As a little free gift to the listeners, Emily Martin has created these adorable bookplates. Listen to the podcast and download them!

7. I think I might make my own sock blockers.

8. For some of us, these might be the only glimmer of hope that Spring is around the corner.

So there you have it! I promise it won't be so long 'til I return!
