Friday Favorites

I wasn't planning on doing a FF post today, but I did want to mention one thing:

Scout's Swag Sock Club III is starting up soon. Here's the link to the info, but don't you dare get in the way of me getting a spot this time around!!!!

Yarn Harlot

I decided to check the Yarn Harlot's tour page for 2008, and lo and behold she is coming to the Denver area on Friday April 4th.

AND I HAVE THAT NIGHT OFF!!!!!!!

WOO HOO Satya's going to meet the Harlot!

Friday Favorites

I have just a couple this time around, but wanted to try to stay on an every-other-week schedule:

* Pretty cool. Another great way to recycle newspaper. Especially if sheep go on strike someday!

* Knitted China. How cool is that??

* I know everyone knows and reads SouleMama, and I'm sure everyone knows about her book. I, for one, cannot wait until the book comes out! Not much longer to wait!

* I have been itching to swap lately. This couldn't have come at a better time! Go sign up! Now!

I actually have to work this weekend. I haven't been to work since I got sick two weeks ago. I was kind of getting used to feeling like I was back on Maternity Leave. Boo.

Have a great weekend!

Does this look like a baby that was on oxygen for a week? She graduated from the oxygen yesterday, and we're all very happy, especially Satya! I was inspired by Pixie's post yesterday to dress Satya in a dress today to celebrate her feeling better. She still has a little cough and some congestion, but she is back to being the fun, happy, active baby who's rolling over now! And sitting up with pretty decent posture for a few minutes before taking a nose dive! Now we just need for her to get back to some resemblance of her pre-sick sleeping habits. Cross all crossables, because Mommy is delirious.
I frogged my sock and cast on again with only 56 stitches, and I much happier now. They won't look like legwarmers now! I am hoping to get in some good knitting time this weekend while at work.

Happy Wednesday!

It's been a long week

So you know how I was sick last week, right? Well over the weekend I got my knitting mojo back. I decided monogomy schmanogomy when it came to the Cobblestone. My goal is still to get it done by the first day of Spring (when is that, exactly?), but in order to be inspired to knit a sea of bland brown stockinette, I had to cast on something with color! So this is a plain sock using Yarntini's colorway Pureknits. As I look at it, I worry that it's going to be too big, so I might have to do something about that. I have more knitting stuff to chat about, but let me tell you about my week.
So as I was feeling better on Sunday, both Lovey and Satya got sick. For the first couple of days Satya was doing well, coughing, sneezing, but being a trooper. By Tuesday night, she got significantly worse and the next morning she would barely open her eyes and was very lethargic. So I took her in to see the Dr. Thank goodness I did because she had RSV/bronciolitis, needed oxygen and had to be taken to the Children's hospital. By ambulance. Never did I think that I would see my 5 month old baby on a stretcher being put in an ambulance. Ick. So they observed her for eight hours to see if she could maintain her oxygen saturation levels in the 90s with the oxygen. She did really well, so they sent us home with her on oxygen. She will probably be on oxygen until Tuesday. She is doing a lot better, but is having a fussy day. She has a lot of junk in her nose and sounds like a longtime smoker when she coughs. Last night was the first night in a week that I got more than 2-3 hours of sleep. So I think we're on the mend.
So my knitting mojo was put on pause this week. I was supposed to contribute some knitting to a local cause, but the deadline for my squares was yesterday so there was no chance. Boo, I really wanted to be involved. So back to my sock I'll go, hopefully sometime today. Last weekend I uploaded some pictures to my Ravelry account, and updated some of my WIPs. Looking at my Juliet, I realized a few things: I hate knitting with double strands, don't really like knitting with Cotton Fleece (at least doubled), and my Juliet was looking clunky. So off to the frog pond it went. But don't fear, I jumped at the chance to buy some Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk on SALE in Color 25 to make another.
Another project that I had to frog was my Matinee Coat for Satya. I was so pleased with my knitting, but never got my act together to put it together and finish it, and now it's too small for her. So I will be knitting that again, in the same color, because it is just so beautiful.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am hoping that mine is very uneventful!

Beatrix Potter Revisited

Here's a picture of the adorable dress that my Dad just finished knitting for Satya. It's 24 months.

Here's the dress on his cat. Is anyone else thinking Beatrix Potter??

Friday Favorites are Back!

I am home, sick, for the rest of the week, so I have some time to do a FF post! I have been saving these links since the beginning of the new year, so bear with me if some of them are *so* last month or something!

* Aren't these Valentine's Day ornaments adorable?

* This is a nice way to organize all those circular needles!

* A little late, but I love all of these ornaments!

* My goodness, isn't this shawl gorgeous?? Nice job, Margaux!

* I am loving this new painting of Emily's. I hope she makes this into a print for her shop!

* I love this quilt!! It's a adorable! So much time and effort put into it!

* Fancie Pants' Starsky. Very very nice!

* Fuzzy Noodle is always making cool socks.

* I think Rachel's Henley Perfected is fabulous!

* TiennieKnits' assortment of Evangelines. I really love the photos! I am thinking I must make a pair very soon!

Well there you have it! Send me some feel better vibes and hopefully I'll get some good knitting done this weekend.
Have a great one!!

Frightening, and not in a bad way

* So my Satya will be 5 months on Saturday and let me tell you what she's done already this week: A couple of nights ago, I was sitting next to Lovey with Satya in my arms like I was nursing her, and all by herself she sat right up to look at her daddy. No help, people!!! We've done mini sit-ups with her, but we're always holding her hands. And then, I got up from the couch (Lovey was holding her) and when I came back to sit down, she tried to crawl over to me. Seriously! And then last night, after her massage, I sat her up on my bed to see if she could balance and stay up, and she could! Not for very long, but she's holding herself up and without a bobble head! If only she'd roll over.......She did roll over three times before she was three months old, and then decided it was SO not important. She's really close to doing it, so maybe by Saturday..... As Christian would say, my babe is fierce (Can you tell I'm watching PR right now?)

*Believe it or not, I have started knitting again. And boy does it feel great! I am determined to get this sweater done soon, so that I can move on and knit up some fun stuff. So many things I want to knit, so little time.

* How gorgeous and soft Shibui Knits yarn is in person! My LYS is carrying it now and I almost peed myself when I saw the gorgeousness. I tried to restrain myself because of my commitments, but I thought maybe if I bought some, it would really propel me back into the craft. Spoken like a true knitter, I know. Anyway, here's a picture of Satya sleeping with her yarn (it will turn into a little Shibui baby cardigan)

And here's a picture of more gorgeousness that will turn into some great looking socks, along with my cute new toy.....

*Another frightening thing.....look at this!

My dad sent me this picture. It's like Satya and I are twins, born 33 years apart!

Hope everyone is having a great week. I am trying really hard to fight off some laryngitis, so fortunately, knitting doesn't require that much talking!
