Contest Update

I've decided to extend the contest until 11:59 pm MST on New Year's Eve.......

*Holiday Edition* Favorites

Ok, so I have lots of fun links to share with you. Many of my favorites are inspiring me for next year's holidays and all the great handmade ornaments I want to try out for Satya's big first Christmas.I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Ornaments and other Christmasy things:

1. I love Dacia's Advent Calendar. Really sweet!

2. Elf Clogs. Too cute. More cutie patootie clogs here.

3. Molly's Star Ornaments from The Purl Bee.

4. Emily's Felted Stockings hung up with care.

5. Paper Stacking Trees.

6. Aren't these bunnies adorable??

7. More cute ornaments from The Purl Bee.

8. Way too cute. I definitely see these in my holiday crafting future!

9. Great last minute ornaments.

10. I love these two lists of favorite holiday books. I'll have to stock up for next year!

11. I love these girls' crafts. Especially the Christmas tree.

12. Such cute FREE printable gift tags!

Yummyness:

I am really into pepperminty things this Christmas. Can you tell?

1. mmmmm, cupcakes!

2. I was lucky enough to receive some peppermint bark as a gift, since Lovey isn't eating chocolate right now (How is that possible?!?!?). But I might try this recipe at some point over the holidays, just for ME!

3. Yummy ornaments!

4. I made this recipe last week. YYYYYY-UMMMMMMM! I added garlic to the whipped white beans. Probably too much, will tweek amount next time, but this is definitely a keeper! Soo easy!

FOs and Patterns:

1. Not the right season for this dress, but I just adore it. I want one for myself.

2. I'm not an apron kind of girl, but this one could turn me into one! I'm loving her fabric choices.

3. I am LOVING the sleeves on this Anais.

4. I really like Julia's Mishka. The color she chose is just so sunny.

5. Nutkin Socks. What a fab pattern!

6. Aren't these adorable? These Prarie Boots are going to be a hit too, I think.

Shopping:

1. Be Clever's Etsy Shop. Such nice, fun things!

2. Two great online shops for toys. Oompa has natural toys made in Europe. Santa might have picked up some toys for Satya from Oompa. I'm just sayin'. The other one is Genius Jones. I haven't bought anything from GJ, but I definitely will be checking them out in the future.

3. I've seen this yarn a lot in Ravelry stashes. Once I'm off my yarn diet, I might have to try some out.

4. These hand blown birthstone globe ornaments are beautiful. I'm glad that the Sapphire one is particularly beautiful, since Satya and I both share the September birthstone. I think these would make really nice birthday gifts.

5. I told you I was really into peppermint this season.....

I need to get back to knitting sleeves..........

From the Official Manual of Knitters at Christmastime

My dad wrote this "rule" this morning in an email to me. He is pressed for time with a baby blanket that he'll be giving a good family friend on Christmas day. I laughed hysterically when I read it, and wanted to share it with you!

It must be in the official manual for knitters.....
rule # 132 Always choose a big project for someone for Christmas. Make sure you HAVE to be done by Christmas Day. Then procrastinate, leaving all knitting, shopping, wrapping, and baking until the very last minute. Of course, schedule a "gig" or two in the meantime....what's Christmas without a Messiah or Nutcracker, anyway? Then, knit solidly for the two days prior to the big day, which includes staying up all of Christmas Eve.
There's nothing more rewarding than seeing the look on your loved ones face as they look into your bleary eyes and thank you for being so thoughtful.
It means so much to give of yourself.
HoHoHo now Knit away all!!!

Ain't that the truth!!

Friday Favorites

The Holiday Edition will be posted on Sunday. It's just too nuts here! But I have a lot to share, so come on back Sunday!

***don't forget about my contest!! ***

Traditions Contest

Everyone here is asleep but me, so I thought I'd write a post. The babe has been going to sleep around 10:30, which is wonderful (she had been staying up til Midnight a few nights which was killing me!) and Lovey is asleep fighting a fever. He's got the chills and has the heat cranked up so high I am ready to put on a bikini.
Anyway....we are having a low-key Christmas this year, since Satya won't really "get it" yet. I think we'll be going to one of the ski towns and Lovey is going to learn how to snowboard. I sure don't mind hanging out with the babe at the lodge, hopefully sipping hot chocolate and maybe even get some knitting done. There's even talk about going out for Christmas dinner. Weird. I think I'll make something nice for Christmas Eve then. So, since we're basically doing nothing this year, I really am looking forward to making next year's holidays very special. Satya will be 15 months then and will definitely "get it". I am hoping to start some of our own holiday traditions and I'd love to hear some of yours. They can be crafty, foody, spiritual, anything. I will choose my favorite (s) and then I will also choose a random comment. I haven't had a chance to take pictures of the possible prizes, but they will consist of a little of this and a little of that.

******************************************************************************
So here's the scoop:

*Tell me your favorite holiday traditions, perhaps new ones, or ones that have been passed down through your family.
*You have until Christmas Eve, 11:59 PM Mountain Standard Time
* I will choose one or two of my favorite comments as well as a random comment and there will be sock yarn to win!

Well, I was going to work more on a sleeve, but I think I hear my bed calling my name.......

Little Angel

Saw this picture for the first time and fell in love all over again. This is at three weeks. If only she'd nap during the day like this now.....

Forgotten Friday Favorites

Yesterday just flew by without a post. Sorry! I don't have many favorites to list, so I will save them for next week, the Holiday Edition! I do hope to post soon about a contest I will be holding, and hopefully it will be sunny enough tomorrow to get some pictures of possible contest prizes.
This has been a tough week, although a good one too. Satya is sleeping better, although I think she is slowly starting the teething process (yikes!). I am trying to accept the fact that I have to go back to work soon. I am knitting in a neverending sea of stockinette and shootings down the street (literally a mile away) and vaccine recalls two days after Satya received hers (fortunately ours was a different manufacturer) have given me a couple new grey hairs.

Friday Favorites

Hi Y'all, hope you all had a good week. Things here at Casa de Satya are great. Little Miss is going to be three months old on Sunday, I will try to post a pic or two..it's been a while! I received beautiful yarn from Brooklyn Handspun for winning at Mobtown Review. I hope that it's not so dreary tomorrow ha, it's supposed to snow all weekend, so I can take a picture of it, so be patient. The best part of it is that I didn't buy it!!
(Total tangent: I am watching one of my favorite movies, Cinema Paradiso, and the mama was knitting and when she went to answer the door, she dropped a needle and all her stitches unravelled. Poor thing!)
So I am knitting along on Lovey's Cobblestone, and damn! Men's sweaters have a lot of stitches! It's moving a lot slower than I expected (don't know if it's the sweater or the baby!)....I need to start progressing faster if I want any chance of giving it to him on Christmas Day! But I'm being good and staying monogamous to the project, so yay me.

Here are this week's Friday Favorites:

1. Kinchi. Cool clothes for kids.

2. My God these are too cute! I originally saw the cow on Grumperina's blog. If I wasn't devoted to the Cobblestone, these could become this year's Korknisse frenzy! Ugh, I really should make some korknisse for Satya. Ugh.

3. Lime and Violet's Holiday Gift Guide. My goodness, like they aren't already mega-enablers!

4. I love this skirt. Found this via Lolly.

5. Yummmmm. Frothy hot chocolate!

6. I found Google Reader while visiting Ysolda's blog. As much as I think Bloglines is brilliant, it's true, I rarely visit people's actual blogs, so I miss a lot. I have both links in my bookmarks bar. It's great, as I knit away on Cobblestone, I just keep clicking my Google Reader and people's blogs show up!

Well, I'm off to give Satya her nightly massage I have a couple more posts I want to write, so I'll be back soon!
